We have another 5 word week this week. I will give class time for the students to do their work this week, and they will only bring it home if they do not finish it. If your child is absent, you can find the assignments linked below. Several students have mentioned that they have lost their poems for September. Here is a link to copies of them that can be printed. They are two to a page, and are typed landscape, so be sure to check your settings when you print.
September Poems We are back to fifteen words this week. Below is the assignment sheet for the week, as well as a PowerPoint with the words, definitions, and parts of speech. The links to Wednesday and Thursday nights' assignments are below as well. Thursday night's Spelling with a Math Twist This week we have only five spelling words. They are English words that have come almost directly from Latin. We are learning to use them correctly, and understand them in context of classic literature. The spelling and vocabulary test on Friday will also cover the words from last week. We are beginning our study of Latin roots of the English language this week. We have five stems that we are studying, with three example words for each. The students also have 5 bonus words that they can study. The fifteen main words are the only ones that need to be used in the homework assignments. Below is the assignment sheet for the week, as well as a PowerPoint with the words and their meanings. |
